Lee Friedlander is a well known photographer in the 1940’s and his known for his American social landscape images and his car journey around America. He started shooting his American social landscape images in 1948 and he likes to photograph humorous images in city life, landscapes.
Other than doing landscape images, he is also very well known for his self portraits that he began that project in the 1960’s and was published in galleries all over the world. His work has been shown in many exhibitions like the 1967 new documents at the modern art museum and he also has been published in books/magazines e.g. sticks and stones, letters from people and many more.
The reason why I have chosen to research this photographer is because I have admired his work for 2 years and think its one of the best representations of street and documentary photography. I also like how he prefers to sow humour in this images and no other photographer does that and I think he had another approach to documentary photography than other photographers.
